The company also announced a five picture deal with Disney (DIS) starting with A Christmas Carol in 2009. This is great news for the company and may pave the way for potential partnerships. (I hope it brings one from another one of my favorite stocks Marvel (MVL) which could put Iron Man 2 and Captain America on the big screen).
Shares are trading at $2.81 as I write this. This is around the 52 week low and well off the 52 week high of $8.28. The company turned down a buyout a couple years ago believed to be around $9 per share. The shares should move up after the digital conversion and a few more successful blockbusters like The Dark Knight. Look for shares to move back up to $4.00 by this time next year 12/2/09.

IMAX is a company that can't be taken at face value or even what appears in the media. Your call of entry around 3.00 is ok to good. This company basically tried to scam it's shareholders and potential buyers for the company. It did not turn down any deals but was turned down (by a few suitors). I think they are a possible turn-around. Last year they were under investigation by the SEC, they had 2 CEO's and 1 quit. Getting big box office hits is not their problem and they are fully digitized. The future and versitility of venues like 3D and soon a wide range of other types of programming like theatre, sports, community agendas, etc. will probably be provided by companies like Access IT (if they don't go bankrupt). Althogh they make money on a few different fronts like licensencing, their library, and their technology ... The bottom line here is what really makes them the big money is the number of screens they operate. They should have had over 3000 screens by now! They are trying to play catch up ball. However at the current entry price of 2.81 is a good play to 5.00! Watch yourself with this trade and take profits when you can.
