INO announced today that animal studies of their influenza vaccine show broad protective response including all strains seen in the past ten years. Human studies are in progress and, if they confirm these data, INO expects to have a vaccine for more extensive testing in 2013. That explains today's jump. If the vaccine proves safe and efficacious, it will still be more than two years before release for use.
