Fewl: I worked for Sun for 8 years, and to be honest, I'm not totally sure what they do anymore. I understood what they did leading upto and into the dot-com bubble, but after the decimation of the IT industry, Sun was unable to re-invent itself. Cisco still sold switches. Oracle still sold database licenses and support. Even Microsoft and Intel continued selling crappy operating system software and over-priced CPU's respectively. Sun however, lost it's way. Demand for the "big-iron" servers just fell off a cliff taking away the company's bread and butter. This left Software sales, which had heretofore taken a backseat, and sophisticated business services, but alas, Sun is no IBM.

Scott McNealy just had to go because he had burned his bridges with wall street. What on earth the board was thinking however when they elevated pony-tail wearing, fast talking, uber-nerd Johnny, I just cannot say. It was clear from the inside that he had been being groomed for several years, but why? Nobody seems to understand, at least, not us poor folk in the engineering groups.

Thus, I heartedly recommend your call. I wish Sun could find success and truly reinvent themselves, but I just don't think that it will ever happen.

HA HA HA!! See!!!!??? We were right! I know that was bunch of smoke on his lame website. What a CEO. Ha ha.
