Let's be honest here. there's no way they'r egoing to engineer a short squeeze like they did a few months ago. their accounting tricks are fooling no one and they're leveraged 44 to 1. Also consider the company's history: Long Term Capital Management, anyone? Forget these crooks, if Bernanke bails these guys out it will probably be for less than $10 a share.

Wall Street is a grave yard right now but, I have to believe that talent is running for the exits at LEH after the announcement that they are increasing stock allocations to employees....gee thanks!

I know a number of people here on the equity side who are still drinking the cool aid. Unfortunately, they are bystanders to what is taking this one down. Their CFO fell on her sword after a few months on the job...probably did herself a favor. I just don't like this story.

Wall Street runs in cycles and the build to "all things for all people" of the early '90s led to the rise of commercial/investment bank conglomerates JPM, BoA, & Citi. Lehman has been fighting to keep pace and part of that fight let to an over-reliance to leveraged finance & real estate. Now those businesses are all but, gone leaving toxins on the balance sheet. Lehman may survive and spur a return to boutique specialists but, this is not going to support the lofty valuations of the past 5-8 years and will be a long painful process to get there...anothers in this camp is MS.
