I prefer shopping at Lowes over Home Depot, they are more organized, and customer service is better. That said I think over the next couple of years as the housing market recovers both will go up. This competion could be reminscent of Walmart vs Kmart.

I do prefer Lowe's as well due to experience versus Home Depot. I think it will not perform well until the housing market rebounds like I said earlier.
