In the long-run, history suggests that bonds (here, long-term, investment grade bonds) will underperform stocks (in this case, S&P 500). So this is a no-brainer in CAPS as a long-term pick.

In the long run, the sun goes supernova and stocks all go to zero....Drastic, but illistrates a point about timeframe. So, how's this no-brainer pick working for you?

I think you might be thinking a little longer-term than me. It's been a bad short-term pick due to all the volatility in the equity markets. But for the specified 5-year timeframe, it's still a high-probability bet. Besides, I have a feeling bonds go to zero that day, too, so at worst the bet is a wash.
