Higher than expected revenue, but a larger than expected loss, and the stock rallies 18%. They're still not profitable and, given the state of the economy, they won't be next quarter either. I'm betting this is a rally based on short-covering that won't last beyond tomorrow.

Unfortunately, too many people think and act as if this is a traders stock and express their disappointment when they don't double in a few weeks/months.
I have followed this company from inception and would like to put forth the following opinions.

They conceived a brilliant plan to create a moat that is unbreachable by any competitor and become the only game in town for high speed/large bandwidth communications. That moat represents untold Billions of $ in todays money to try to duplicate. They had the vision to embrace Vo/IP big time, when most others played it safe. Now it is a standard format. Satelite systems will have a place but cannot provide the cost effectiveness of fiber optic cable.

They are masters of finance and debt restructuring. Their debt (Which is the only thing keeping this from being a $40 stock) would have crushed virtually any other company I can think of.

They don't make money right now because they are building an empire and are keeping competitors out. Basically, they priced their service as if it were 3-5 years from now and they had achieved "critical mass".

Eventually, they will reach that crossover point whereby they will make enough money to pay down the debt and I will be there to reap much profits.

They continue to struggle to consolidate their acquisitions, but they have an excellent team in place, and I believe this is a matter of time. Given the debt burden, there will be lots of hiccups along the way, but I am convinced that they will be profitable before too long.

THE TRACK RECORD OF THIS COMPANY SPEAKS VOLUMES.BECOMING PROFITABLE IS STILL A FLEETING DREAM.I OWN SOME SHARES AND HOPE I'M STILL AROUND WHEN PROFITABILITY OCCURS.RIGHT NOW I DON'T BELIEVE LVLT COULD CRUSH AN ALUMUNUM CAN WITH A STEAM ROLLER.

It's up almost 100% since April 8th when I purchased it at $2.20. That was 2 months ago. It was not a short-covering rally, my friend.

No, it was definitely not a short covering rally, unfortunately. But I still dislike the company's prospects, and I'm not ready to suck it up and admit a loss yet. At this point it seems I'm stuck until next quarter's earnings release. If it continues upwards at that time, I'll probably cut my losses and move on.

Too much emphasis on the next quarter. However, I belive will be a 'good stock' even in the short run. Have the foresight to look further out on this one. For a longer term investment.

Terok>>> again .. too much emphasis on 'the next quarter'. Take your loss if you must, or wait for the longer term possibilities..

See, that's where you and I disagree. I simply don' t see this company having long term possibilities, at least not in the next 5 years, and I'm not investing with a 10-year horizon. Everyone always quotes how well positioned they are, that they have all this fantastic infrastructure that someday, somehow, the country will need. I don't buy it. Companies like Verizon (VZ) and Comcast (CMCSA) already own their own national networks, and they've got a lock on the "last mile" as well. FIOS and Docsis 3.0 will provide more than enough bandwidth to the consumer without having to significantly enhance the existing networks.

Yes, I'm fixated on the next quarter, but that's because I don't believe in long-term shorts. I want to claim my points and move on. I'm not worried about this company suddenly turning profitable. I'm worried that the market will continue deluding itself and cost me additional points. And I have no real money invested in this company, long or short.

Ho! Ho! Ho!, The only one who needs the last mile is Santa Claus! When your cell phone connects to a cell tower through the local exchange it then connects through them to a network. Thats what Level(3) has to offer. A to Z connection as in L.A. to New York. Just as an example AT&T rides Level(3) on some of its connection. Price the costs of their network at todays prices and maybe you wake up and smell the coffee,WIFI,IPODS,etc. all need to hook to a network after their ride through the sky. When the CEO cleaned up his manaement team that was a big step and it took guts. The future is right around the corner for Level(3).
