They say the only way to win at Las Vegas gambling is to not bet. Except for Las Vegas casino stocks, which the odds are going to zero. An overbuilt and over-hyped city built on illusion of the "wealth effect" Americans are losing and will not likely return for decades.

Las Vegas will die a slow death. Every state wants gambling revenue, so will broke Americans drive / fly all the way to Vegas or drive 20 minutes to the Indian or River Boat Casino to lose their money?
Would you want to retire in 100+ degree heat?
Eventually, water, electric and food will become pricey as oil is not coming down and Las Vegas is in the middle of a NO WHERE DESERT, no water, no food near by and increased transportation costs. Cash in your chips and walk away, is my recommendation.

I have been to the famous dying tourist stop Lost Vegas. I have also been to dead cities Pompeii and Herculem. They are similar. Pompeii and Herculem were lost to an explosion by a volcano, its' citizens suffocated with toxic gas and buried under ash. Lost Vegas is being lost, as the illusion of wealth is removed from America, taken out by the real estate implosion and its citizens are buried under debt.

If you know the history of Vegas you would know that the city that exists now was born out of the depths of the great depression. Workers that got jobs working on the Hoover Dam project needed an outlet due to the strict rules in Carson City. Vegas grew to the multi-billion dollar revenue generator that it is simply because of the basic need for humans to be social and to have fun. It has been hurt in that it has strayed from its roots in order to try to get the huge incomes from families but the underlying principal is still valid. People are scared and companies are trying to deal with an uncertain future but if there is one thing that is true of Humanity it's that we adapt. People are still being infected by the swine flu but since we don't know anyone that has died from it, we are not so concerned any more about it. It's just a matter of time before everyone gets bored with being depressed and scared and looks to have some fun again. When they do, Vegas will be a shining beacon in the desert where they can leave their real lives behind.
