Favole Of DOW JONES NEWSWIRESWASHINGTON (Dow Jones)--The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Thursday said Lifeway Foods Inc. (LWAY) has shut down seafood and cream-cheese operations at its plants in Skokie, Ill., and Philadelphia.The FDA said the plant shut downs follow an "extensive history of violations" dating back to at least 2004, according to a press release from the agency.Some of the violations include distributing cream-cheese products with labels that didn't disclose major food allergens and transfat levels. The FDA said the company also distributed whitefish salad and ground nova salmon without plans to ensure they were safely processed.Operations at the plant can resume after the FDA determines the company has complied with all food-safety requirements.Shares of Lifeway traded down to $11 after hours, after rising 7.5% to $12.69 in the regular session.-By Jared A.
