Opened a small position in this in the summer of 2006 based on a Hidden Gems recommendation. I was apprehensive given the weak state of the housing market, but now wish I had backed up the truck on this one! It took Wall Street several months after the HG call to start to recognize MDC as a builder with a clean balance sheet and little exposure to overpriced land holdings or options.
