One of the things I like about Markel is that so much of their business is specialty insurance--like summer camps, martial arts studios, etc. Their underwriting is fairly diversified and as a result they have less exposure than many other insurers to the kinds of extreme weather that come with a first name attached and bring FEMA in their wake.
