Despite what you may think, the smokers are alive and well. I see them out on the town everywhere, hopelessly and disgustingly hooked. It's sad, but it's a consumer choice and how is it my fault they have a couple drinks then go immediately for the pack of lung darts? The economics of this situation are plain and simple, they throw money up into the air and it's your job as an investor to catch it.

If that weren't enough, MO is the only stock Bernacke owns. Google for the article.

I've held MO for quite a while despite the scare of law suites. They have done well by me. I have never smoked so I also notice smokers. My only concern at this point is that they sold their Kraft Foods division. Food - addictive to some, eaten by all.

They haven't sold the kraft division. They still own 86% of KFT stock.

Here we go, my wildest dreams become true! Altria's stock hasnt gone anywhere lately and nearly all my other stocks went great! So, dear friends, tomorrow the day will be of courage and profits. I'm going to sell MSFT with a 30% profit and buy Altria.

Who else bought Altria recently ? Hmmm.... some guys like Charles Brandes and Tweedy Browne, who just happen to be some of the top value investors around. Oh, and I almost forgot, a bunch of insiders buy bits of Altria all the time.

What else ? A 5% dividend! Dividends! Reinvested! (No, I'm not paid by the Income Investor to make publicity).

So....
1. Insider interest
2. Apropriate Institutional ownership who is into Value Investing
3. High dividend, fits into the Dogs of the Dow high dividend strategy.
4. Nobody likes it, bad news keep the stock permanently cheap.

... and for last, if you make money on Altria, you are making money that is costing healthy lives to millions of fellow human beings and thousands of lives of the exploited people who work in the production of tobacoo. And that's just ok because if you wouldnt make the buck, someone else would. But you are different, you are special, and so, you will make a buck and then will donate part of it to a good cause. Be a responsible investor even if you invest wisely in non-responsible companies.
