This company has a history of bad news, lawsuits, everybody hates it, governments (specially in Europe) make smoking rules more and more strict. I love this stock!!!! It's cheap, sports a nice dividend, and it has beaten the market for decades. What's not to like on it ? Yeah I know, someone you loved had cancer, I know it's sad and all but in that case at least you can take a profit from it.

ps: I don't smoke, and I hate smokers, they disturb and stink like cigarettes all the time. And girls who smoke taste like ashtrays.

Here we go, my wildest dreams become true! Altria's stock hasnt gone anywhere lately and nearly all my other stocks went great! So, dear friends, tomorrow the day will be of courage and profits. I'm going to sell MSFT with a 30% profit and buy Altria.

Who else bought Altria recently ? Hmmm.... some guys like Charles Brandes and Tweedy Browne, who just happen to be some of the top value investors around. Oh, and I almost forgot, a bunch of insiders buy bits of Altria all the time.

What else ? A 5% dividend! Dividends! Reinvested! (No, I'm not paid by the Income Investor to make publicity).

So....
1. Insider interest
2. Apropriate Institutional ownership who is into Value Investing
3. High dividend, fits into the Dogs of the Dow high dividend strategy.
4. Nobody likes it, bad news keep the stock permanently cheap.

... and for last, if you make money on Altria, you are making money that is costing healthy lives to millions of fellow human beings and thousands of lives of the exploited people who work in the production of tobacoo. And that's just ok because if you wouldnt make the buck, someone else would. But you are different, you are special, and so, you will make a buck and then will donate part of it to a good cause. Be a responsible investor even if you invest wisely in non-responsible companies.
