At the very least, shouldn't we have the right to know whether the foods which we buy are genetically modified? According to Reuters, the European Union has required labeling to let consumers know if food contains GMOs since 1997. Yet, here in the USA major companies such as Monsanto continue to succeed in preventing labeling requirements.

I have been too kind in my statements regarding Monsanto and its business practices. This is a company which either has no idea of what the word "ethical" means or the company management does not care about any kind of ethics. How many farmers who grow non GMO crops on contract will have their crops destroyed by contamination from GMO crops grown nearby by other farmers who don't give a damn about the fact that they have destroyed their neighbor's crop and most, if not all, of his income? Monsanto will then step in and accuse the poor guy whose crop was lost of "stealing" a GMO crop. There really is no justice in any of this. Let's hope that "what goes around, comes around" in the end.
