Look at the 52 week range for MSFT, it is only a $10 difference between the high and low.

This is a rock solid stock that is too heavy to grow anymore. With a $277 billion market cap, it would take many many years for this stock to double.

Plus Apple is going to continue gaining Market share as XP will no longer be sold, and Vista is obviously a failure. Apples retail stores are gonna continuously eat away at their market share, and their marketing & brand are getting even stronger. Everyone I know wants a MAC, everyone I know who has Vista complains all the time.

And their dividend is horrible. There are plenty of other huge mega companies that are willing to share excess cash with you, Microsoft is NOT one.

People who caught this early on are probably filthy rich and not playing CAPs, but no one will get rich from this stock anymore. It might be a good company, but it still won't be growing a lot.

Microsoft is not worthy of your investable money and over time the S&P 500 will do better.

This point is a good one, however, I do not like your call. Microsoft is always the one to pick on the little guys and venture into new businesses. Like it or not Microsoft is definately the king of the computer industry. They are floating ever so slight into hardware all sudden including Zune, Xbox, XM (Remember Microsoft owns a bit of them), Routers (Remember when you used to see these on the shelf?), Keyboards & Mice, and wherever else I'm forgetting. Nobody thinks of them as a growing company, but you have to remember that they are the biggest bully on the street, and if they want something they will get it. There are certain things that they haven't tapped into yet that is still floating around there. We don't even have to get into the search industry with competitors such as Google and Yahoo. What about Microsoft Sync. Brand new technology that Ford uses in their vehicles? How cool is this right? Yeah not much demand yet, but just wait to see what happens. We are talking about computers in cars for the user. Cars in the U.S. outnumber people. Imagine what would happen if everyone of them had a computer running a Windows OS that controlled everything from Temperature Control, GPS, Cruise Control, and even Self Driving. Wow right! This could add billions of dollars onto their revenue. Now let's also get into the developing countries. Yes I mean China, Brazil, India, and so on. Enough said. I think we all understand what would happen if the big bully worked itself into these countries as big as it has the United States. I think by making this post you are looking at what the company is now, but that isn't what Markets are all about. They are about predicting the future. This is what you have to look at when looking at the markets.

Not if it is undervalued. Many attempts made to buy other interests. With the amount of cash available to MSFT that will happen sooner or later and then.......

Every Mac sold comes with Microsoft software all over it. Macs are also too pricey to advance much further past their quarter of the market. Taking those two factors in combination, there really is not much risk to MSFT's profitability from Apple.
