This stock is trading at uber cheap levels right now. The forward looking P/E is 8.39. Sales continue their steady stream as the transition moves to Windows 7. Windows 8 is not far away. I think Microsoft will finally break into the mobile arena. The only negative here is the aging of xbox consoles. This is old technology with the future in gaming belonging to conpanies like Zynga.

I agree. But have you noticed that AAPL has a forward P/E of 11.6 (today MSFT forward P/E happens to be 9.7). MSFT PEG is 0.98 vs AAPL PEG is 0.62. MSFT should be the safer bet as their revenue stream is more diverse and with fewer competitors. AAPL has better growth opportunites with the risk of more concentrated revenue (IPHONE) and more competition (GOOG)

Agreed. But have you seen how cheap AAPL is? Forward P/E = 11.7 vs today's MSFT = 9.5. While AAPL PEG = 0.62 vs MSFT PEG = 0.98.

What is with that? I posted earlier today but now on a different computer the message was gone. I though it got removed or stuck in some security filter somewhere. But then I repost the comment, albeit briefly, and the old message suddenly appears?

And for that matter, why does the system always show me this message. I've been reading it for weeks now and finally decided to comment.

I also have AAPL and GOOG in my portfolio right now. I think they are all buys for the long term.

I think a potential mega driver for the stock will be Ballmer being replaced. After a decade of missed opportunities under his leadership, the timing is right. I think it is only his relationship with Gates that allows him to remain as CEO.

Unexpectedly Windows Phone has been an unexpected hit. MSFT will be in contention (with RIMM also) for the next big hit. I don't think apple will have the next big phone hit (although it may be apple tv as a big hit in tech). You have to realize no company is able to stay on top forever, and MSFT and RIMM are the next best candidates in the phone market.

Who would have thought microsoft would be in contention for anything cutting edge?
But they are.
