The stock tumbled after their recent debacle, and it has been slowly working its way back since. Were looking at a stock that was trading for double what it is now, and given Netflix has axed the plans to split DVD and streaming, and has managed to pull in more subscribers than expected, its starting to look like that company again. Over the long term it will face competition from the likes of Apple, Amazon, Google, and Facebook, but I view Apple and Facebook as the bigger threats, and they are still a few years behind Netflix.
I still believe my previous statements despite current poor performance. I think the market is overreacting to the perception of increased competition. What competition? The only legitimate competition is Amazon Prime, which I believe still needs a solid year to mature at least. There is competition coming from Comcast and Verizon, but when have those companies been good at anything besides overcharging and screwing their customers?
When Apple enters the subscription media contest, then I'll be worried.
