The one reason I advocate staying in the name is because 2012 is poised to be a good year for Nike. Why? The London 2012 Summer Olympics. According to Barclays Capital, Nike has outperformed the market by an average of 24.5% in the last five Summer Olympic years with a 100% success rate. Valuation is a long-term determinate of returns and I think this is a good time to put that aside, for a little while at least, and be part of the final sprint in Nike shares.
