I'm a gamer and it is widely recognized that NVIDIA produce the best technology on the market, it is also fairly obvious that Gaming as an industry is growing at an astounding rate.
"This year it is expected to outstrip the music business with revenues of $37.5 billion, according to PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC), a consultancy. And the games industry is forecast to expand by over 9% annually over the next few years to become worth $48.9 billion by 2011."

For gamers it’s almost a necessity to own the most powerful card affordable and claim the bragging rights to go with it, no point in having the newest games if you haven’t the rig to run it.
There is tons of cash to be made selling high spec(high cost) peripherals to these fanatical gamers who would quite literally sell their grandmother.
Customer loyalty was huge in this arena with fan boys defending their respective maker ATI or NVIDIA.
AMD/ATI could have had a chance a while ago but it looks more like an acquisition target now.
The future is multi GPUs in SLI mode and NVIDIA have this wrapped.
This allows people to add a second and a third card to machines to increase performance.
.I expect this company to remain solid Market Leaders and reap the rewards in the future.
On a side note some excellent images displaying the power of the next generation of graphics.

ATI is gaining ground. Their graphics cards can be liked in "Crossfire" formation, the equivalent of SLI mode for NVIDIA cards. The latest motherboards by NVIDIA have bombed (790i Ultra), being plagued by bugs and returns for warranty replacement/service. How do I know that these high-end enthusiast boards have problems? I bought one and had to return it for service. NVIDIA forums are swamped with people having the same problems I had. The 790i product was released before it was ready.
