I am a registered nurse who has used Omnicell machines. I hate them. In my opinion, they are a pain in the butt and they slow down my job. When I am rushing to get an item during surgery, the last thing I want to do is swipe my I.D. card, swipe the patient's information, and press a button when I take an item. A hospital using Omnicell is a hospital at which I do not want to work.

I was going to put an outperform rating on this stock. I'm glad I read your post. There is no better opinion on a company's products or services than the ones down in the trenches using them. Have you told the company's sales rep that you don't like their machines?

To "whatever1965".....1. The Omnicell inside each O.R. is not the only Omnicell we use during surgery. There are dozens of Omnicells scattered throughout the surgical area. We get items from outside the room all the time. For these machines, we have to swipe our badge and the patient's identification EVERYTIME we need something. This slows down the nursing process and is a pain the butt.2. Exactly how does the Omnicell improve our ability to "get the right items to the right patient"? I don't need a machine to pick the right item. Machines just slow me down.3. Try working as a circulator before you tell me how to do my job.

As a user of Omnicell, I can honestly say I love the machines. If protection of my personal data is important enough to password protect, I would think the protection of of the medication used to preserve patient safety is just as important. It cuts down on calls, order medications by itself, without any real effort from me.

Crankytexan, I'm with you. My faclity has just completed the conversion from another vendor to Omnicell. The narcotic vault was the last part of the system to be installed. From day one, the interface between my vault & the rest of the system hasn't worked properly. At first we were told they had to write a whole new interface. Then it's fixed, then I find another error, then it's fixed again, etc, etc, etc.... Tonight was the last straw - After all but swearing to us YET AGAIN that the bloody thing is fixed, I prove conslusively that once again that's not the case. Oh, for the good old days of using their competators product!
