OfficeMax is severely underpriced just look at the p/e ratio of it and its competitors. Staples is priced around 16 p/e ratio while OfficeMax is around 7 p/e ratio. I was looking at the balance sheet and running some simple liquidity ratios and everything seems to check out fine. The only difference is that OfficeMax is smaller compared to Staples. You could also compare OfficeMax with Office Depot. When I was first looking at office max it was around 19 dollars per share now people are buying it up to 20.79 and it will only go up because it is so under-priced. If you want a safe bet during these risky times, I have to say this is my very top pick but I'm just a finance student at University of Washington so I'm too broke to put any money at where I think is making money.

I certainly agree. omx has gotten a bad rap for no apparent reason. I have been watching this one for the past 5 years and have seen consistant pratical growth internationally and domestic. Partnership with Lyreco and Safeway will show improved profit going into 2012. Unlike spls who I believe has over-extended themselves and will see major losses due to inadequate funding. I see spls going far south over the next 5 years, if they manage to stay afloat that long.....
