Great product, I like Diet Pepsi vs Diet Coke myself. As good as mgmt is they slipped up lately and are a target of AFA and a boycott of the products based on Pepsi giving big $$ and support to the Gay community. AFA usually wins and sales usually drop at companies they target. If PEP follows the trend, look for lower revenue for the next few months at least.
I guess if the AFA wants to boycott, no big deal. Basically, unless a company causes serious harm to someone, these boycotts tend to fade rather quickly. Not a concern if buying for the long haul. I'm not saying it's a good buy, just that the boycott would not concern me.
On the contrary, Waldenbooks, Ford, McDonald's, KMart and Wal-Mart, among others, have changed course on issues as a result of boycotts by AFA and other conservative groups. They do feel it...right at the top line.
AFA is a bunch of radical nutjobs and this is coming from a PJB supporter. Part of the issue they cite is that Pepsi requires employees to attend an acceptance course. God forbid employees love and except each other. While I personally don't support them giving money to the HRC I guarantee it was more of a tax right off than a political agenda and a drive against Prop 8. At the same time AFA is bringing attention to their support of gays, which could help there line, probably more than the AFA can hurt it in the long-run.
Oh Yea and gays are have extremely high discretionary spending and are amongst the most brand loyal consumers out there. The only thing AFA followers are loyal of are Skoal vs. Copenhagen and Remnington vs. Smith and Wesson.
My gay aquaintances do love each other and have what heteros will never have - true community. Perhaps if heteros face persecution they will band together, but i think it rather unlikely. After all we are to busy fighting with the opposite sex to band together.....
Don't be gay.
KO Is the better investment regardless.
KO is not so bad but definitely not better than pep since people less and less choose soda drink now.
From an ethical standpoint, this makes me want to buy PEP and everything I'm reading about KO ethics, I will never buy them.
I find required acceptance courses as going way over the line and I would never work for a company like that. But business is business and they will have some of my money.
