In SHLD, Eddie Lampert is working to build an investment holding company in the style of BRK-A/B. His focus is on wringing cash flow out of his businesses and improving ROI by better capital allocation. In a way analogous to Buffett being unwilling to write insurance for the sake of insurance, Lampert is willing to close stores and rein in capital spending in order to improve returns over the long term. I came in into SHLD at around $100 a stub and plan on holding for a long time.
