This company seems to be on the incline right now... not sure why. I treat this stock as a consumer myself and why would I buy this device when I can use my smartphone and download an app such as pandora or songza and not pay a dime. I understand there are people without smartphones but I don't expect that number to increase.

What you are missing is that Sirius is much more than music. I would easily pay the subscription based on the exclusive talk channels alone.

..because those apps you mentioned don't include the 10's of talk radio shows, every baseball game, other sports, etc. ok, maybe you could get a few of those via another medium on your iphone, but must there are enough people at a level of disposable income that $13 a month savings is not worth having to hunt on my iphone while driving at 70mph - it is not just access, it is convenience. Nothing can replace my CNBC, Bloomberg, POTUS, classical music channel, broadway channel for the kids, Cleveland Indians games, etc with the push of a couple buttons - one of my most necessary products in modern life, along with my iphone.

I'm sure there are plenty of people that would be willing to pay the subscription fee. The question is, are there enough people to continue growing their subscription base at a decent rate? I don't think there are. It's kind of like mobile gps systems like Tom Tom. Smart phones have taken away a big chunk of would be subscriber/purchasers. They have not and will not eliminate these businesses and probably will not in the foreseeable future. I'm just willing to bet that your investing dollars would be better spent elsewhere.
