Though it has the stigma of having dot-com in its name, being a dot-com doesn't have much to do with its business. It generates most of its revenue from its enterprise products and other on-demand software. The smallest part of its business is unfortunately its most recognizable. The Salary Wizard and web site are not revenue generators, yet people try to compare this company to payscale.com or salaryexpert.com when those sites entire business is the smallest arm of salary.com. With its recent acquistion of ICR Surveys, along with its growth in the compensation software arena, Salary.com is positioning themselves to take on salary survey companies like Mercer, Watson Wyatt, and Towers Perrin, as well as compensation and talent management software companies like SuccessFactors and Authoria. It is a long-term investment, but a good one.
