I think most silver and gold bugs are frankly kooks, but sometimes those kooks create value by nullifying-obscuring the intrinsic value. Such is the case here.

Silver consumption has outstripped production for 17 years. Silver is in the ground at a ratio of 17:1 to gold yet is priced at 58:1. Silver stockpiles are depleted with rising manufacturing costs. Silver photo consumption is about flat eliminating a future debit. Silver is an inflation hedge that Greenspan is expecting. Silver consumption is increasing 4% annually and will replace lead in silver solder. Silver will spike if NYC gets blown off the map sometime.

What's not to like?

Don't lose site of this metal's values just because of the kooks. There are underlying arguments as to it's validity in one's portfolio.

This kook has been riding the gold/silver train all the way to the bank. I resent your characterization, and anytime you'd like to engage in a civilized discourse about the reasons for the present commodities bull market, I would be happy to oblige... and I will refrain from calling you a kook even if you're crazy enough to believe that the US Dollar has a leg to stand on.

We "kooks" also know that silver is the target of the most concentrated short position in any commodity...
EVER! In fact, this short position, held by four, or fewer, players is larger than ALL OTHER SHORT POSITIONS... COMBINED! What is going to happen to silver when this massive short interest begins to be unwound, not to mention a complete unwinding?! If you don't believe me, google "Ted Butler". It will be some time, but when it goes, look for at least a 10 bagger in silver!
