Step into the batters box and watch this pitch: SMP's P/E and P/CF are both under 10 and it currently trades at book value EXCLUDING intangibles. Throw in a 4.8% dividend which does not appear to be in jeopardy and you've got a nice value AND income stock. I realize anything 'automotive' might be beat up in a recession, but SMP is already at a 52 week low and its 5 year history shows it rebounds near this price point every time. Also, remember they sell replacement parts, and I bet people in a recession will be repairing their vehicles rather than buying new ones, so SMP might do OK in rough times. Swing batter!!
