I don't have much to add to my last underperform pitch from December, so I'll drop an edited version here.Synta is a volatile biotech stock that has given me a great deal of joy over the years. I include it with Affymax and Alkermes as one of my "biotech bitchez", stocks that I've successfully rated over ten times to build a strong score leadership. The share price is rapidly approaching 6 on the strength of multiple phase II trials of Hsp inhibitor ganetespib. The company recently announced exciting interim results from a trial in NSCLC. The only problem is that the excitement was in the tone of the press release, not the actual data. 33 patients evaluated and only three with durable responses (six to fourteen months). That's good for those three people but not very impressive for the overall population. I've seen the development of many oncology compounds eventually dropped after similar lukewarm results in preliminary trials. The company is also planning to initiate two new phase II trials of elesclomol in early 2011. A casual investor could be forgiven for thinking that at least one of these trials is certain to produce positive results. But they don't know Synta like I know Synta. In three and a half years I have't seen a single positive trial. What I have seen is a lot of pipeline getting swept under the rug very very quietly. Show me the money, Synta.

why does the officers and directors keep buying synta shares?
Are these insiders not very bright, scam artists?
Your record shows that at different points in time you were both positive and negative on snta. When would you become positive again on snta (if ever)?
