Southern Company primary business is the ownership and operation of electric utilities in four states in the American South East, but they also have fiber optics and wireless communications businesses. At this price, it displays good value metrics (P/E 15.30; P/S 1.72; and P/B 2.14) and is paying a 4.8% annual dividend on seemingly solid financial strength (Q-.50; C-.90).

It has a record of 242 quarters (60+ years) of dividends, which have consistently increased over the last 7 years. It has held the top ranking in customer satisfaction among U.S. electric service providers for the last 9 years.

I believe there may be some sputtering with the price in the short term, but that the future trend is decidedly upward. Looks oversold with RSI of 39.12. Recommended.
