this will be the first home builder to go bankrupt, there is no helping this company now, it's buried in debt and concentrated in bad housing markets with no turnaround for at least 5 years, it simply can't last that long.

SPF is a solid company. They have nice revenue streams. The housing market is out of favor and so is this stock. I'm going long here so I don't mind if SPF drops a little bit more, but it is down low enough for me to be satisfied with entering my pos...

SPF has been hit hard, as of late, due to the decline in the homebuilding industry. In addition, Standard Pacific Corp. was rated #3 by JD Power & Associates during an Oct 2006 homebuilder satisfaction rating. http://biz.yahoo.com/bizj/060913/13449...

big write offs coming..... things have really slowed down in the industry... and that is saying a lot considering how bad things have been... SPF still has 4 years of land and a debt to equity over 60%... their cash position is very nice, but techn...

Mkt cap/ net current assets = 1.00Price to free cash flow = 4.25P/E = 12.64It's difficult to say where the bottom is for homebuilding stocks. This is a good place to buy a first position, and there may be more opportunities to buy in '07.

In my numbers, Standard Pac is currently trading at a 12% discount to the group, in line with its historical avg. I believe a greater discount is warranted given my expectations for increased margin pressure and slower growth relative to peersmoving...

Have we found the bottom yet? I doubt it. However, I strongly agree with floridabuilder that *somebody* has emerge from this mess, and they will do so in a formidable position going forward, with virtually no well-capitalized competition to worry a...
