SunPower Corp (SPWR)

I shorted solar stocks (in CAPS) after they got too hot, but in the long run, I am a peak oil theory guy. What is going to help, obviously everything from solar, to burning trash... nothing will be left out (sorry to say, but nobody is really going to care about carbon emissions when their economy is going through the crapper due to energy constraints... wink wink to China).


All that being said, if Solar energy can be produced cheaply, it will be accepted, if not, it won't. My guess is that at some point it will be economical. Unfortunately, I don't know which company will be that company, so I am placing a small wager that this might be one of those companies (especially now that the forward PE on this thing is about 20, which seems pretty reasonable).


2 thumbs up out of 3 due to silicon shortages, which will hurt margins, uncertainty in short term oil prices, and competing technology (thin film, etc) that could potentially leave this one in the dust.
