Sasol's sustainable development management framework covers international construction, exploration, production, research and marketing and sales activities in every country in which they operate. At the end of 2007 Sasol had activities under way in 33 countries:

South Africa, Botswana, Egypt, Gabon, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Nambia, Nigeria and Swaziland in Africa;

Mexico and the U.S.A.;

Iran, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates;

China, Japan, Malaysia and Singapore;

Australia and New Zealand;

Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Poland, the Slovak Republic, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

The largest production activities are in South Africa, Mozambique, Qatar, Germany, Italy and the U.S.A.

It is in South Africa and Mozambique, where Sasol mines coal and natural gas, converting it into synthetic fuel through it's proprietary Fischer-Tropsch technology.

Sasol energy is involved in coal mining, synfuels and chemical feedstock production, liquid fuels production and marketing, gas marketing and distribution, oil and gas exploration and production.

Sasol Chemical is involved in both local and international production and marketing of a wide range of surfactants, surfactant intermediates, specialty inorganic chemicals, alcohol, esters,ketones and other solvents, comonomers, monomers and polymers, including polyethelyne, polypropylene and polyvinyl choride.

Production and marketing of ammonia and ammonia based compounds, fertilizers, commercial explosives, hydrogen and other specialty gases, sulphur, waxes and waxy oils, and cresols and cresylies, as well as alkylamines.
