The Company develops, manufactures, and sells a family of systems, including a line of 3D printers, all of which create physical models from computerized designs.
3D printing is the wave of the future. But could you create a 3D printer so powerful that it could print ANOTHER 3D printer?! Be very afraid of that, investors!
Already done... sort of... I pulled this from their facebook page:"Getting excited for CMTS in Toronto next week, Oct 17-20. Visit Stratasys in booth 1339 to discover new ways to streamline manufacturing and reduce costs. In our booth will be a replica of the Fortus 400mc, made entirely out of ABS plastic using FDM Technology, and see the new Fortus 250mc printing live during the show."Not functional, but still...
Interestingly enough, after I posted this I stumbled across a 3-D printer that's designed specifically to print copies of itself. Open-source and everything. I'm still keeping my upthumb, because those machines are just for hobbyists, but it could be a threat down the line.
