Okay, so it's clear I picked this one way too early, but if I perceived long-term value at $49, you can bet I feel doubly confident in the lont-term value at $34! In real life, I've been buying in gradually, and have a cost basis of $42. I might be in the red on this one for a while, but this is a great company in a sector that makes just too much sense in a rising oil price environment. I believe solar will be a big part of the planet's solution to its energy woes, and China is th most de-coupled of all foreign economies... so I'm staying with STP for the long haul!!

What's your take on the recently announced convertible senior note offer? News seems to have been taken badly by the looks of the selloff, but I'm thinking it might have been a better move than obtaining a bank loan in the long run.

These shares are in for some serious dillution in the future... But I remember the dot-com days and this company reminds me of Yahoo. One of the early leaders that isn't going to go anywhere. The "Get Big Fast" may apply here...I own small amounts of STP... I used to speculatively trade YGE heavily week to week, but a few bad trade will will get you out quick... Thankfully I manage my risk with some intelligence and not like a hedge fund manager.

If it's any reassurance, this is the one solar company in the portfolio of Outstanding Investments, the top-performing newsletter (per Hulbert's, at 40%/year) over the past 5 years. Having said that, I sure hope it moves soon. I'm sitting on some call options ...

Now what I don't understand is that this stock keeps getting a beating even after it posts good quarter numbers... Why?

What I don't understand is that this stock keeps getting a beating even after a solid earnings release. Why?

Why is this solar company rated so highly? No other solars come close. I own Evergreen Solar (ESLR) over this guy any day. ESLR will perform regardless of where the sector goes. Check out my post on them.
