Absolutely. I highly doubt US shareholders get anything when the bankruptcy has fully played out. Too much debt to be paid first that has priority over the equity. And the takeover bids will pay pennies on the dollar of their total debt outstanding. My opinion is shareholders are out of luck. By the way, I have no position either way and no intention of opening one.
This is exactly why you don't play with a bankrupt company's stock. Chances of getting burned are very, very high.
