Motley Fool Recommendation based on some purchases by outperforming small cap mutal funds. I just don't see it. Perhaps its the overall basic materials sector with screwy numbers but this company that makes alloys and specialty steel products has a crappy margins, ROE. Balance sheet is cash poor. They do have positive Free Cash flow. Ehhh, just doesn't speak to me. I'd sell it. I like TIE much better.

Agreed. TKR has got internal problems and their Alloy Steel business does have screwy numbers - they used to hide their scrap by remelting it but since sales are way off, they can't play with their numbers like that anymore so their Steel Division (probably for the first time in years) has no other choice but to show its actual performance. Their overall immediate stability seems to be stemming only from their recent payroll/headcount reductions and plant closures - not actual performance in the market. For a MF recommendation - I'm personally not convinced at all. Past indicators and trends don't mean a thing in this new economic environment. I just don't see a clear vision or even the slightest hint of innovation from TKR current management - and all their the massive layoffs within the last few months ... not something I would expect from a stable investment. They're grasping. TKR, for lack of a better term, has become stagnant. I'd sell too. There are better, more profitable investments out there.

Here we are in May 2014. It is $63. Why not get out to protect your good score. If AA aluminum can do it so can this fine company. I am going to read the 10k and maybe buy here!.
