With a PEG=0.82, a forward P/E of 13.9, profit/operating margins of 37.2% and 37.5% respectively, RoA/RoE of 12.5% and 22.5%, and nearly zero debt, TSM kicks butt over Intel and AMD for a sector play. Apparently, the shorters think so too, as there's very little short interest out there currently.

Well, one year after I picked this stock, we've seen a big rise and fall in this stock, followed by another rise. It's like a Taiwanese tsunami. All the numbers are essentially unchanged for this long-term play of mine. Thus, I think it's going to be up to the economic situations around the world (but particularly in the US) to determine how well TSM will do this year. I'm tempted to close this position in lieu of chasing better performance elsewhere and because I am concerned that the economies around the world (particularly in the USA) are not going to be buying as much of TSM's product as they would in better times.
