Every student I know in college owns at least one. Most students by two or three over their highschool and college careers. They have the market pinned. Good ROE and ROA plus low PE (compared against the historical PE). Seems like a good entry point.

TI does, indeed, have a very strong position in the calculator market, but the division that makes calculators is a very small (less than 5%) part of the company. The other product they make of which consumers might be generally aware is DLP (they now sponsor a NASCAR team), but that is also a relatively small part of TI's overall revenue.TI is a semiconductor company, pure and simple, and, more specifically, a DSP and analog semiconductor company. They do make other classes of semis, but the R&D flows into those two areas. TI's future success is heavily leveraged on it's ability to grow profitably in the wireless market. Everything else is almost irrelevant.
