Under Armour is a line of extremely expensive clothes that no one can afford in this recession much less any time else. There is no need for the products they manufacture. They have had terrible earnings calls and have continued to depress their shareholderse. The stocks low volume says it all. Buy Gap or some other clothing line that people actually buy.

In the line of thinking that the UA clothing line is too expensive to buy in a recession or any other time, you would also have to say that ANY luxury clothing brand is too expensive to buy at any time, and that no luxury clothing brand will survive a recession. I bet you've also said no one can afford a $500 pocketbook, and yet still are amazed that Coach is in business. I guess some just do not understand or appreciate luxury lines/business, and hopefully they accordingly don't buy OR short them because if you don't understand it, stay out of it.

As for

Has any luxury brand of clothing or anything else luxury's stock gone up the past year. No. Not many stocks have although some discount stores have rocketed. You cannot say that luxury businesses are struggling in this time. All Coach has to do is sell a couple thousand dollar purses and there in business. What, you think the cashiers at Coach are making $20/hr? Nike, a luxury brand, has dropped $15 in this recession, starting at around $70.

Very true; and as you pointed out, not many stocks have gone up during this crisis. So what does that prove about this company? Nothing. Some discount stores, low-end clothing lines, etc, have also gone way down. You make the point that, to quote you

Sorry, don't know why my posts keep getting cut off....

Very true; and as you pointed out, not many stocks have gone up during this crisis. So what does that prove about this company? Nothing. Some discount stores, low-end clothing lines, etc, have also gone way down. Also, I wouldn't consider Nike a luxury brand; name brand does not equal luxury. Maybe in other areas, but such a statement is a broad generalization. Also, you make the point that, to quote you 'no one can afford in this recession MUCH LESS ANY TIME ELSE.' First, many can afford the products now, just not as many as before. And during normal/good times, its like any other luxury brand; people are able to, and will buy it. You argue that there is no need for their products; but from personal experience, they make some of the best athletic wear out there. Their material is highly breathable, pulls the sweat right off the body, and is extremely durable. Its everything you want and need in athletic wear, and in my opinion, and clearly many others who continually purchase their products, it doesn't cost TOO much for their great quality product.

Come on people. You're not only buying under armour for it's superior product, you're buying it for the brand name. Watch what this stock does in 10 years when everyone has forgotten about Nike and every famous athlete on the planet is wearing UA

And, let's also remember that UA is now makes some college football jerseys....what happens when they make a play to try to capture that from Adidas in the NFL?

You know...my daddy always told me "Son, if you're gonna buy something, make it last!" What you call a luxury line of clothing is a QUALITY line of clothing. Players rave about the cold gear winter and hot gear summer items. Not just because they're cool and statement brand...but more because they work as intended.

That mock turtle is lightweight and really keep my daughter warm playing mid-western collegiate softball in the Spring. We've tried the lesser stuff, and guess what...you end up buying another cotton item to out over it, because it just doesn't work as advertised. UA items do!!

Hey: I like that as a slogan "UNDER ARMOUR DOES"

I'm an outdoorsman and both my sons play football (one in high school and the other in college); despite having their own respective schools in apparel endorsement deals, they still prefer UA because of their superior performance. Okay, so then I tried it. *#@$%!, yeah, they work, and they last. Forget the other stuff, I buy quality, because value will come into play when I don't have to replace it as much.
