USU is also involved in converting nuclear weapons into fuel for nuclear plants, with several lucrative contracts from Russia lasting for another 5 years with the potential for more. We don’t need enough nuclear weapons to destroy our planet a hundred times over. Once or twice is enough. Many major world powers are committed to decreasing nuclear stockpiles, guess who does the downblending? Monopoly on uranium enrichment in North America, severely depressed stock price due to naked shorting , well below it’s $12 book value. I personally consider the investment in the ACP well worth the money even if the estimates rise higher. When you consider that they basically approved financing from the US Government (the united states would never allow themselves to be without a way to reliably fuel their nuclear plants and weapons, it’s just impossible they are way too paranoid). Usec's price is so low now because of that naked shortselling and the announcement that their enriching plant currently under construction will go over budget by a substantial margin. BUT they already got the loans approved and backed by the US gov and once the plant is finished they will cut their operating costs exponentially (95% reduction in their main cost, electricity, due to more efficient technology)and the problems that USU faces will also have to be overcome by eventual later starting competitors and I will wager it will be even harder to build a huge nuclear enrichment plant in 2015 (considering the cost to build one has doubled in 07-08) this will put USU in a monopoly in uranium enrichment for at least a few more years and by association a good position to dominate the market and profit from a nuclear renaissance that HAS to occur. France gets 80% of its power from nuclear we should too, for the environment, and as a solution against depleting and undesirable resources. Energy is our most important resource. I am long on this stock(5 years min), with potential for profit taking following the major price spikes. USU was worth over $25 a year ago....i would personally say judging from my own dd) that their new model is immensely more profitable and they stand to benefit so much in an industry that cannot fail. Or if it does we will have much bigger problems than stock prices....like foraging for food. I am loading up anything under $10 a share. And if factors should conspire or if the shorts come back with a vengeance and this stock drops to $3 a share... I’m going to be buying more and laugh quite heartily! Because who are we kidding? This will be way higher in 5 years.
