USU should have a 10 YEAR run. Uranium is sold by contract .... it isn't tracked like gold, silver, or platinum. Information on the contract negotiated price for Uranium is only availabe on a delayed basis .. as an example on April 2, 2007 Uranium was at $95/pound. On April 6, it was $113/pound... a 19% gain in 4 days. World supplies can't keep up with demand, and demand is expected to exceed supply for the next 10 years. Plus world demand for green (environmental friendly) energy should spur more nuclear reactors. The old reactors were built as you go, with costly delays, and challenges, currently, there are many already approved reactor designs that can be built in a lot less time .... More reactors ... more demand. Buy USU.

USU has NO uranium. Repeat NO uranium, NO assets and very little cash. They lease antiquated and costly plants from the DOE. Plus, 50% of what they sell comes from the weapons to plowshares program with Russia. You have done little due diligence on this stock. The ONLY thing they have in common with the uranium bull run is two U's in the stock symbol. This stock will crater soon, watch your money dwindle!

GE and Hitachi have entered an agreement which includes uranium enrichment using SILEX technology "The world's only third generation laser based enrichment process under development today". "GE-Hitachi plans to complete the Test Loop program at the end of 2008, which if succesful would then open the way for the first commercial enrichment plant to be constructed in the US.".So, while USEC will have the field to themselves for a while, it is very possible that some strong competition, using superior technology, will appear in a lot less than 10 years' time.See GE press release 4 Ostober 2006 http://www.genewscenter.com/Content/Detail.asp?ReleaseID=1497&NewsAreaID=2&MenuSearchCategoryID= and later releases.

Nice info EasternGrey1. However, your info also supports the idea the uranium refining is going to be the place to be in the next ten years. Even with lower tech, why shouldn't USU be able to prosper?

The key word EasternGrey1 is "if sucessfull" actually that's two words. The laser enrichment technology is very exciting. But it is not commercially proven yet. I liken it to Fuel Cell technology which has not proven to be commercially viable. In the meantime USU is building the new plant with more efficient technology than the old DOE facility can offer. The cost overruns and additional financing required for the project is hurting USU stock more than the threat of laser enrichment technology becoming commercially viable at this time. Global Nuclear Power Plants will continue to use increasing amounts of LEU and USU will be positioned to provide it. The timeline for laser enrichment to provide LEU and in enough quantities to make a dent in the supply chain is up for debate. Fool on--Educate--Make Money.
