Visa is the leader in its industry and who wouldn't want to buy in to a new ipo company at its beggining. Especially one as established as visa.
Think about this how much would your stock be worth today if you invested when microsoft first became public.
Visa is the only stock I own where I do not have to look at the share price. (unless I am buying more)What your getting when you buy Visa is a brand that resonates throughout the world.People don't say they have to pay their credit card bill. They say they have to pay their Visa bill. Also most of their expenses are in advertising. They do not make loans. Just process every single transaction. If analyst estimates are high they can easily readjust to meet expectations.Long live Visa.
No offense but to compare V to MSFT to assume that V would have the growth of MSFT. MSFT IPO'ed for growth and expansion. V's IPO is to keep up with Master card and to pay off the AMEX lawsuit. They are saturated and I would expect ANYTHING like MSFT. Great Stock, but not an MSFT growth story.
Case in point: did MSFT IPO with a dividend? Hint...no, they didn't.
You know I have to agree with you. Great points here. However, everything is going to electronic transactions and companies like visa and master card are only going to get bigger and bigger. As long as they keep there management costs low they do have a earnings potential compared to microsoft for the long term. I'm holding on for 25- 30 years. Will it be at the same growth potential stock wise as microsoft no but still a great pick. That my opinion.
