Vimpel is owned by the Alpha Group in Russia. The Alpha Group is owned by billionare Mikhail Fridman.Fridman, 43, is a secretive Russian billionaire whois a key figure in Russia's dangerous policy of selling nuclear technology to the Islamic Republic of Iran. Simply Google his dealings. The company has purported outstanding earnings and growth - yet instead of using that growth to fund future projects PVO(G) - they just borrowed 500 Million. The lack of accounting standards and the general knowledge of "shady" dealings in Russia has me believing the run-up in this stock is not based on truth - but on lies. I see this stock losing 1/2 its value in the next two years.

I suggest investors read about the winning ADR for I believe two years in a row holidng American standards of reporting and transparency. Fraud in this company (VIP) would be extremely difficult considering the required reporting and verification necessary to maintain standards. This company has been around for years and is solid! Sounds like another cold war attitude.

You are crasy !!! I dont know where you get this information.I lived in Russia and Ukraine for 3 years, everybody have cell phone, some peoples have more than one, wireless technologies... USA 5 years behind... and these peoples spent $50-150 a month on cell phone ( they have money, they not in debt like Americans)As long as company make money, Im as a shareholder dont care who own shares, individuals or Russian goverment - dosnt metter. I invest to simply make money - not a political intrests.

Comment on the comment that fraud in this company would be difficult - be serious! Fraud in the USwhen it happens goes un-caught for years - think ENRON - and the bigtime auditors are never the ones who reveal it.
