Valero and other refiners have been downtrodden for a decade, leaving VLO price to sales at 15 cents on the dollar in 2000, and is now only 60 cents. Replacement cost per barrel of capacity is now $20,000. This makes VLO a $100 value particularly in light of their heavy sour processing capability. Don't forget the best management in the business!!

Yes, the long view prospects of this "extreme performance stock" is stunning; I loaded up when it dipped into the $48 range. mid to upper sixties by summer end or sooner.

Great timing. VLO is in the mid-70 as I am writing this. And in the long run, I still believe this stock will outperform. However, when the driving season ends with the Labor Day weekend, demand for gasoline will go down throughout the fall. That will drive down gas prices and refining margins. My advise: take your profit now, and get back in in December or so. That's what I am doing.
