A sometimes volitile stock that has, currently, stabilized with the rest of the oil industry. I don't like the instability in stock price. Yet---the underlying performance, and net, show that the potential value has not been realized. I expect this stock to outperform the S&P by at least 5% (if valuation stays the same it should peak 15%+)

I doubt this happens. Earnings are not going to surprise anyone to the upside anymore for oil companies. Professional investors (people who invest other people's money) are selling. Look at the volume on the sell off. Only bottom feeders are buying now and they will be unhappy campers soon.

Well, I don't know what you meant by soon and I don't want to be a smart aleck, not my intent not my style, but I loaded up on this stock back about a month ago when it dipped into the $48 dollar range and now it closed today at $54 and has slowly been gaining momentum. I plan on selling in the upper sixties, but if a stock goes up $6 in only a month (12.5%), then keep sending the bait my way and call me a bottom feeder all you want, as that would be a 150% gain in one year, knowing that probabilistically VLO may not be able to sustain linear that one month gain. But lets check back in a year and see how VLO did, in the meantime I will continue to be on the bottom with the 150 lb Catfish.
