VLO is not a short-term play. Volitility has been extreme in recent months - you must be able to handle a 20% drop in a month's time. Valero's competitive advantage is huge: it is the #1 refiner of sour crude in the business, and most crude coming ...

Valero Energy is an oil and gas pipeline company. I love these companies because they have the infrastructure in place to make profits for decades.

The price of oil and gas will only go up in the future as more and more people drive aroun...

I bought Valero 10 days ago because unlike the rest of the oil community, this stock had stayed flat for many weeks while almost everyone else rallied. I am up a quick 4 and half points since. This is a very friendly shareholder management team, well...

America's best run refineries, most modern and safe, 50% of their crude stock comes from Gulf of Mexico, only 14% from Persian Gulf. Only refinery that can process more than half (56%) of it's gasoline from plentiful ($17/barrel cheaper) sour crude. ...

They're just not building too many more refineries ( NIMBY ), and oil has dropped a bit to draw this into a reasonable range...may drop a bit more if oil does, due to short term factors ( fewer hurricanes, possible warmer than normal winter ), but I'...

I'm attracted to this stock for the same reasons as I am towards XOM, RDC, DO, and HERO: energy demands. Valero is almost as attractive as Diamond Offshore and Rowan in that it has a great PEG ratio of only 0.37, a low P/E (trailing=8.1; forward=9.7)...
