The dearth of the new refining capacity used to be a U.S story, with commentators pointing out that there hasn't been a new refinery built over there (USA) since 1976. The upshot seemed to be that more gsoline would have to be imported from countries...

VLO has been an exercise in patience. I originally purchased it for my virtual fund at Marketocracy.com (thankfully it wasn't real money.) Since then the stock has fallen precipitously, bottoming out in the high 40's. However, my faith in stock ha...

Excellent refiner beaten down by a drop in gas futures. Good buying op., the prediction of oil falling further and the rollout of more hybrid cars is over-rated.

I bought Valero 10 days ago because unlike the rest of the oil community, this stock had stayed flat for many weeks while almost everyone else rallied. I am up a quick 4 and half points since. This is a very friendly shareholder management team, well...

World's best sour crude refinery... oil has several grades from sweet low sulphur content from texas to the high sulphur content from say Mexico. Sweet is cheaper to refine and used up first....which means more and more of the world supply is the sou...

Refineries aren't built overnight. Valero owns most of the U.S. market.
