I work in a closely related area as VmWare's core competency, virtualized systems. They have competitiors on the horizon (MSFT, Xen,) but their technology is way ahead of the competition, and their products are selling like hot cakes in enterprise data centers. With the stock at IPO levels, this is a buying opportunity for the long term, notwithstanding the current turmoil due to firing of the founding CEO.
