Just drive down any street in America....soon it will be drive down any street in any country. Taking a page from McDonald's growth book. Arkansas spreads like a slow moving ooze and will hit $100 before 2010.

I believe WMT has high potential as a stock, backed by a tremendous company. Walmart needs only to focus on doing things right. Most of Walmart's problems stem from "friendly fire" if you will.

Walmart needs to do more strategic advertising and continue promoting what people want and need at low prices!

But can Walmart dance?
I bet they can, and it will be an unexpected quick-step.
Clue #1: check their environmental initiatives. That is clearly unlike them; but in a better way than their attempt to sell fashionable togs. These efforts go largely un-noticed, and worse (or MUCH better) largely un-appreciated, . I personally have never liked even the idea of Walmart and rarely shop there. Most of the stores near me are pig sties...but there is one...it's smaller, cleaner, important locally....and I've been in to buy a couple of things. uh-oh...northeast lefty looks like he might be softening on this outfit. Will others follow?
I am not yet making a CAPS play on Walmart, but I may when I put real money on it. The stock seems headed for the dumpster. Are we paying attention to what that means?

I agree. In addition with the selection of SAP as Walmart's, new Enterprise Resource Planning systems, I suspect to see easier moves in integrating a global presence to bring lower prices to world-wide customer base.

During the first part of the year. Looks like customers are buying way more groceries than last month. I've worked for wal-mart super center close to 5 years, an seen nothing but a rush to buy and stock up on groceries, an health aides the beginning of the year. Customers are buying the cheaper walmart GV that usually does not sale as much certain places in grocery,
I think people will be eating at more often during this month. Meaning the restaurants may feel pain at the cash register more this month that in past years.
For electronic buys customers are looking at prices, and picking out that one item that will work for them.
Quality of the pick might be outpaced by low prices for electronic needs.

Dang! that "taking a page from McDonalds" is the best one yet....

people ....this company couldn't take a page from the "old testament" ....have that girl put John the Baptist head back on and buy that bald guy on Fast Money a toupee to make this company come back in grace with "we the people".
They don't say squat on their American web site about promoting American export nor buying locally but on their China web page....it's all about China.....like 95% of the items in their stores come from China and they promote China export.
With America being $48 trillion in debt and the largest company a dang 5 & 10 store...you people better start thinking like South Korea and Germany. Cheap crap don't add up to higher wages and better jobs and with the American consumer sending all the US dollars overseas our FED (private bank) has to keep printing money out of thin air for all the banks.
China consumer saves 50%....America consumer saves a negative 1.5%.....wakeup! America...this ain't what the few fat farmers had in mind back in 1776 when with the penmanship of a poet they wrote on a piece of paper the American dream. Today, young people in America think $8 an hour, a ipod, iphone, laptop and flipping burgers is that American dream....that's sad.
I put a under perform on this company back on 02/14/07 at $47.18 and my thinking wus with the US being in a recession since 2005 and the consumer just now realizing that no bank is gonna give them a third or fourth mortgage and that guy in that big white house still looking for another place to invade the people in America gonna get so tight with a George Washington that their breath is gonna smell like sh!!.
For me....my money is on "we the people"....they ain't gonna put a dollar in the hand of a company that only thinks........."RED"!
Cheap crap didn't build America .........people having "pride" in American made did!

The milder temperatures during January is going to be great for Wal-mart with increase sales. Snow storms come and really go away fast.... Not much in freezing temperatures through out the USA.
People are out an about enjoying the Weather and buying groceries and health related items to save money from other high priced stores.
I'm a employ at a wal-mart in North Idaho, never seen it this busy during a January month ever. Mild temperatures the snow storms do hinder but the rain and 40 Temps have increased customer traffic numbers this year compared to past years. Wal-mart is on a great step forward for the New Year.

Now is the time for wal-mart to push out products that sale good in a recession when people start cutting back in going out to the theaters, restaurants, traveling,, etc. People will buy more DVD's, CD's, DVD machines, food, health aides, etc. Like microwavable products will sale great during this slow down. People need to eat on the go or quickly, need to push the microwavable products to the end stands so to increase sales of also microwaves. This is the time to push out products because people will want there dollar spent to last longer than just night out on the town.

Cheaper products, cheaper food.
With the new computer scheduling for employees will make wal-mart for customer service out of 100 retails number 100 from the high 60 area.
Cost of wages, overtime, benefits, bonuses will go down at wal-mart, yet the customer service will just totally fall at all levels within the wal-mart corporation and stores.
Plus the new way how on determining yearly bonus is just plain fuzzy math so to stop or cute in more costs.
If a store is up in sales for the year, even looking better than last year in inventory, if a few departments show a negative for the year in sales then the employees do not get any bonus at all. If the rules ran the same last year employees at this one store could have received around a $1,800 bonus for this year.
But theres no real remedies in the new policy in to change sales within departments, increasing the footage for the positive department, and decreasing the footage for the negative departments.
So what will happen to customer service..
Oh, did I say the main managers received there bonuses for how good the store was in the positives.
A unreasonable policy by walmart store inc, will increase there stock but decrease any real employees that they do have..ha,ha.
