WNS (Holdings) Ltd is an India based provider of offshore business process outsourcing (BPO), offering data, voice and analytical services. Its services include industry-specific processes that are tailored to address client’s business and industry practices in the travel and banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) sector. Its enterprise services segment offers services across finance, accounting human resource and supply chain management, whereas its knowledge services cater to market, business and financial research and analytics segments.

The practice of offshoring has gained pace due to drop in telecom and infrastructure costs, coupled with availability of skilled workforce in developing countries. As per Nasscom-McKinsey estimates, the offshore BPO sector is growing annually by 37% to reach $ 55 billion by 2010 from $ 11.4 billion in 2005. India is the most favored destination for offshore BPO and accounts for 46% of the overall offshore BPO revenues. Also sectors like retail banking, insurance, travel and hospitality and automobile manufacturing have been identified as the industries with the greatest potential for offshore outsourcing.

With its strong relationship with British Airways, the company is exploring opportunities to expand in other capabilities within the travel industries. Also acquisitions have contributed to its growth. WNS has a significant market opportunity within BPO and KPO (knowledge process outsourcing), with a strong client base like British Airways, Tesco, Travelocity, Virgin Atlantic Airways, Aviva and Indymac Bank and many others. To recruit and retain skilled labor is the biggest challenge faced by the industry as of today. Strong growth prospects for the BPO industry and the continuing dominance of India as an offshore destination play well to WNS’s strengths.
